About Apps Playground

Apps Playground is a UK-based site that helps readers find the best apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows PC. We launched in September 2010, a few months after the first iPad went on sale, when it became clear that families needed a trustworthy guide to the flood of new apps and games arriving every week.

Over the years Apps Playground has been read by more than 1.2 million people, peaking at around 60,000 readers a month. Our approach has always been simple: we cover the apps we think are genuinely interesting and useful, and we have never charged developers for a review or for coverage.

Who we are

Stuart Dredge founded Apps Playground in 2010. He is a freelance technology journalist who has written about apps, games and digital media for many years. Alongside him, Alice Whitaker brought a market researcher's eye to the apps we tested as parents.

Today the Apps Playground editorial team continues that work — researching, installing and writing up step-by-step guides to the apps people are searching for, including how to run popular Android apps on a Windows PC or Mac.
